Faith on the Water

When you’re out on the water and the fear of the high waves has you suddenly sinking, where is Jesus when you need him–like Peter–to lift you up? Or like the disciples–to calm the storm? He can’t help you  (physically), being seated with the Father. {So Peter got lucky? That’s not fair!} No–if and since Christ now lives IN  you, resurrection power lives in you, water-walking power lives IN you, the storm-calmer lives in you: you declare by faith, ‘I will walk on these waves in Jesus’ name.’ And ‘Storm, be still in Jesus name.’  It is the inch of difference in living or dying.

Even God said to Moses when he was standing at the Red Sea, telling everyone to ‘watch and see’ God do a miracle, “Moses, why do you stand there and cry to me?  TAKE YOUR STAFF AND HOLD IT UP AGAINST THE WATER.” It was the difference between living and dying.

The fulfillment of his promises comes by faith–which inherently has actions (“Faith without works is dead.”)  So, stand up by faith. Speak to the waves by faith. Hold up the name Jesus by faith. It is the inch of difference between sinking and standing.  If you are waiting on Jesus to grab you….you have misunderstood his ascension; he now lives in you.

It is not arrogant or delusional–it is a response to His gift! “All authority has been given to me,” Jesus said. Now he lives IN YOU.  Use the authority to set captives free–and first yourself!

It is more arrogant to do what my kids do at the bank when they whine about wanting a sucker–as I teach them, “You cannot ask for a gift. A gift is a gift. You receive it only if they offer it.”  It is more arrogant to say, “Oh dear God, please grant me a gift of provision or grace today!” A prayer that is the norm for most ‘humble christians’ today.

He has already promised and offered everything through Christ who fulfilled your end of the bargain so that you could receive “everything you need for life and godliness.”

Instead, we humbly say, “Thank you, Lord! Praise your name that you have freely given us all things in Jesus to the praise of your YOUR GLORY, the goodness of your Grace!  I believe that you are in me, helping me. I can and will do the things that I must do today knowing confidently that you are “working with me, confirming Your Word with signs and wonders.”  What your Word tells me is possible is possible. What your Word tells me is true is true. What Your Word tells me You are Doing, You are Doing. What Your Word tells me I must do, I must do. If I can’t see it; I will walk out upon it by faith and see it come to pass.

Nothing about water says, ‘Come take a walk out here upon me.’  But when I see Jesus doing it, I know I can.

Is that arrogant? NO! It is beautiful–it is the normal Christian life.  It is this beliving God’s Word more than your own thoughts.

John 14:12-14 “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these….”
